Playing the game in fullscreen is highly recommended!

Logging in on the startup page is also highly recommended, or you'll miss out on the replay system and leaderboards, it only takes a few seconds (opens a new tab to authorise the game with the itch.io API).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If God had intended for mankind to fly, he would have given us wings.
Instead, being of the stubborn kind, mankind invented rocket launchers.
At long last we joined our fellow feathered brethren in the skies, but going high soon wasn't enough...
We needed to go fast.

Features

  • High speed rocket jumping action!
  • Online leaderboards with replays!
  • 9 races with of varying difficulty levels, with a few tricky shortcuts!

Controls

The game uses the mouse and keyboard:

  • Mouse 1 click: shoot a rocket, hold longer for a faster projectile / straighter trajectory, can also be used to interact with UI elements (options / leaderboards)
  • Mouse move: look around
  • WASD: move around
  • Arrow keys: move around
  • Space bar: jump (hold for higher jump)

Tips

If you're having trouble getting to the hard races, this video shows one way of doing it.
Note: the second and third shots should be fully charged, makes it much easier!

Really fun game! I actually got the world record on 4 of the levels, and it was worth it :D

how to acses leaderboard?  as you see i cant save my timesskamdmkmaksmkdm

It seems the Raspberry Pi which hosts the leaderboards and replays has crashed! I will have a look today if I can revive it.

ok thanks pls tell me when its done and i will come back

Should be okay now! You may have to delete the localstorage/cookies if it does not give you an option to login on launching the game (after the Unity splash screen).

thanks.  is this the final game or are you planning updates.  just wondering

There are no concrete plans currently to update this further. Lots of ideas, but too little time!

My best time for ground-level

I finally got a sub-second run

also to be honest this mechanic is really easier to rocket jump then rocket jumping in tf2

(+1)

I really enjoyed playing this! As a TF2 player, I was kind of expecting the usual rocket physics, although the rockets had gravity, it was still amazing, the tricks you can pull off using that mechanic is amazingly satisfying.

Levels are accordingly balanced and fun as they are tricky to play through. Tracks used in game sounded amazing and enjoyable to play with. Having an epic track playing while you grind for the leaderboard just really fits the theme. The fact that you can actually CHANGE settings like FOV, etc... is phenomenal, I rarely see much indie games in game jams using that as a feature.

The lighting and simplistic style was decent, I could say that it needed more colour but I guess that would somewhat degrade the style. I would love for a reloading/shooting animation to be added in the game though. Anyways, great game and best of luck to you.

(sorry if my English sucks, not my primary language)

Love this game, it's really fun!

i fell off the map

Well made. I hate it.

I really enjoyed every minute of playing this game, really addictive and with a nice touch of difficulty. From being new to rocket jumping to flying all the way to the moon, really nice experience.

The small challenges to get to the actual playing area was a nice touch to give you a taste of what's to come.

Music fits really well with the vibe the game gives off.

The replays are so good, it's the first time I see something in a flash game (if I can call it that) being able to see how others finish the level is really satisfying, really smooth and doesn't even take a second to load.

I think some maps could have used more time in the making, but there isn't a single one I didn't enjoy speedrunning.

Expanding on the idea of M2 (the one w/out a rocket launcher) could be a good idea, but I feel like it's missing something.

Overall, really cool and enjoyable.

There was music?

Beating other people in this game has to be one of the most satisfying things ever!

Especially when the previous record holder is a drunk Frenchman who joins a voice channel at 1AM and starts cursing at you in gibberish French and then leaves. <3

If there's a god in this game it's FUCKING ME!!!

but yeah, solid 10/10

Thanks for playing! Glad to hear the French are defending their pride in this one 😃

Git gud mate

pretty good overall. I fell off a lot on the medium level was going way to fast. Leader boards kept making me want to try again to get a high score. Can get addicting

(+1)

Can't express how much fun these replays are for us the developers! Absolutely awesome to watch you and others play our game.

Research has shown that for 95% of the respondents the rocket launcher was a major contributing factor in order to yeet themselves at the sky. Gotta love science!

Nice work! Really impressed you put together a trailer and leaderboards (with video!) too. At the time of this comment, I am currently on the leaderboards for every level on the Easy and Medium difficulties! Unfortunately, I couldn't get up the Hard area although I did give it a fair shot. I read your tip here in the comments about using Space + Rocket Jump to get extra air, that was super helpful and should be in your game, maybe just after the tutorial area, I'd say. Also loved the music choices, rad stuff.

Okay, a tad nitpicking here but there's something about the rocket which seems a little... slow, maybe? Maybe it doesn't add in the player's currently velocity or acceleration, but it seemed like sometimes I would outpace the rocket I just fired, which made things sometimes hard to coordinate. I wanted to suggest obstacles you could blow out of the way, making the rocket launcher serve two purposes, and giving the player some choices to make.

I also would have loved a key, like Ctrl, to simply fire the rocket toward my feet as that's the most common move, and I could keep an eye on where I was going, which would have helped things be a little less disorienting. Although maybe that clashes with the idea of how a rocket jump works in games that might have one.

In any case, I had fun, and got drawn in, played for a while. I'm impressed!

Really glad you enjoyed it!

I added a tips section to the page with a short video showing how you can get to the hard levels, if you want to give it another shot. Hopefully that will help, you aren't the the only person who has had trouble reaching them.

Regarding the rocket being slow, just in case: did you see the rocket tutorial panel in the hub (straight ahead when exiting the hard area) which explains that you can charge your shots so they fly faster?

Destroyable obstacles / buttons to open doors and a few other interaction ideas were on the list, but unfortunately we just didn't have time to explore them during the game jam. We do intend to revisit the game once the voting period is over though, quite a few things we want to try out!

Thanks for all the feedback, and hoping to see your times on the hard level leaderboards soon :)

As of this comment, I'm on 2 of the Hard leaderboards now too. :) Giving up on the last one for now, I don't think I quite have the knack for these wall climbs. I think the tips video did help get me up to that last area though. I did read the panel there initially, but I can't say if I really internalized it at first or not.

What I meant about the rocket speed, I think it's seen easiest if you're falling downwards, let's say next to a wall, and you shoot a rocket at a downward angle, not directly down, but maybe 45 degrees let's say. Since you're falling and the rocket is falling but it is also propelled to go faster, it should hit the wall first and knock you a bit sideways but also upwards, or at least that's what I'm expecting. Instead the rocket blast can often knocks one downwards, which isn't expected or particularly useful in this game. Maybe I just wanted that aspect to be more forgiving, but it seems like a physics question somehow.

I was also thinking this go-around that a little more maneuverability in the air after getting rocket-yeeted would be generous, giving a chance for a little course correction or aerial creativity in the hands of more skilled players than I.

Thanks for the tips, I was happy to revisit your cool little game. Nice work, again, feel free to hit me up if you keep working on it after the jam voting period. :)

really solid game , but it is hard....

Thanks! Anything in particular you find hard to pull off or a steep learning curve in general?

medium difficulty level,I find it really hard to jump that far

There are several tips and tricks you can use to get the altitude you need. For example, if you while rocket jumping, you hold space, you will jump higher.
Another tip is that you can watch other people replays on those level to get the motivation ;)

thank you!I will try again T_T

Enjoy and thank you for the feedback :)

Dude at first, I just jumped like a rabbit randomly, until I left the tutorial and competed against others' best timers... Too addicting :D

10/10 fun with the frens!

Glad you're enjoying it.

Saw your replay on the H2 race, impressive!
